Bakersfield, California recently conducted a study regarding their red light traffic cameras. While there are differing opinions on whether they have actually cut down on the number of red lights run, thus cutting down the number of accidents, or if they have had little to no effect, most people agree that the effect has been good. One of the most interesting parts of this study was this:
When analyzing 100 random photos of people caught running red lights, 39 photos clearly showed the driver talking on the cell phone.
Very interesting study. The more attention drivers pay to the road, the safer the roads are.
