The Corvette, manufactured by Chevrolet, is one of the most widely known models of cars in the world. The Chevy Corvette is a piece of American history with an All-American image that cannot be duplicated or argued.
The Corvette was first manufactured in 1953 and was in part inspired by the sports cars of Europe that soldiers returning from World War II had come to know during their time on the continent. One of the most memorable of all the Corvettes made was the Corvette Stingray. An interesting part of the Corvette Stingray history is that the look of the car was kept secret and then was accidentally unveiled to the public with the early release of the Hot Wheels version (Hot Wheels, for those that don’t know, is a 1/64th size replica line of toy cars for children). Another interesting fact is that the Corvette Stingray 1975 model was almost the last of the convertibles releases as Congress was deciding over a law that would’ve outlawed the manufacturing of convertible cars due to safety concerns. That law did not end up getting passed, but it made the 1975 model a popular purchase by collectors who thought they might be buying the last of its kind.
