Nationwide Index of Traffic Cams
The city of Hammond got ahead of itself, at least that is the opinion of the state of Indiana. It appears that the Hammond City Council approved the installation of the very controversial red light cameras at some of the city’s intersections. The problem is that until the state of Indiana passes a law authorizing their use in traffic enforcement, no tickets can be written based on the placement of these cameras. View the story here.
The controversial red light cameras have come to the state of Indiana. Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. has given the OK for red light cameras to be installed in his town. What makes these cameras controversial is that many people dispute that they actually ran a red light, others object to them as an invasion of privacy, and others say that they cause more traffic accidents. There is some statistical data that indicates that the more dangerous and sometimes fatal broadside have decreased due to these cameras being installed, but the more minor fender bender (rear end) type of accidents have increased.
Check out this editorial to read a blistering take on the legality and sense of red light cameras doing the jobs of police officers. Some very good points are raised although they are colored by the fact that the writer had just gotten a ticket through this system. A very interesting read.
The City Manager Pro Tem of Naperville, Illinois has put the company that installed its traffic cameras on notice that they need to be fixed and in working order in two weeks or their contract with the city will be lost. The company has apparently not gotten the cameras working after quite some time. Red light enforcement cameras are controversial enough, a major implementation problem like this doesn’t make the city managers look good. Here is the story.
Rapper DMX was caught on Arizona traffic cameras speeding in excess of 100mph. The yellow 1966 Chevrolet with the letters “DMX” on the windshield is pretty unmistakable evidence. Here is the story.

Many people object to the red light cameras that are being used to catch people from running red lights, imagine the controversy if cameras are now out catching speeders. The simple truth is, if you stop at red lights and don’t speed… you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
Much has been made lately of red light cameras that are put in place at intersections that see a lot of accidents and the running of red lights. The cameras are set to take photos of vehicles that cross a designated invisible line while the light is red. Some are used for research and some are used to send out tickets to violators. Here is a new use for a camera. Chattanooga, Tennessee city officials have placed a camera with a voice amplifier in a spot where it points at a popular illegal dumping location. Lifelock - Explosive Growth Proves How Great This Company Is
Whether you’re speaking about the internet, your home, your identity, or your car, security is one of the most important things we contend with these days. When our things of value are protected by quality security systems, we can enjoy them more and also save them from being either taken or destroyed. Lifelock is exactly the kind of company that is making that line of thinking a way of life.
Lifelock is a way to put a lock on your identity. Lifelock has the major credit companies put a fraud alert on your account number so that anything questionable will be flagged and brought to your attention. They then wait 90 days or so, when that order would expire, and renew those fraud alerts again. Lifelock also does its best to remove your name from pre-approved credit card mailing lists. Lifelock also orders your free credit reports for you and they are shipped right to your door. Add to that, their offer that if while enrolled in their program your identity is ever compromised, they will spend up to 1,000,000 dollars to restore your good name.
As an aside, Lifelock has some job openings right now. If you think your talents can be put to good use by Lifelock, you might check out the Lifelock jobs that are proving to be a well paying fob with good benefits.
Here is an article detailing the failures of people intending to contest their ticket they received due to a red light camera catching them not stopping in time or at all. Few of them succeed, but why? It looks like most argue that the yellow light was not long enough to make stopping possible. The judges usually rule either that they are under no authority to rule on the length of the yellow light, or that the length of the yellow light is not the question before them, the question before them is whether the person stopped in time or not. A new strategy is needed for anyone intending to question this law.
